Long ago, the people of Shikayume were devoted to the gods - playful, fickle deities who wove the world with their dreams and desires. But as time passed, mortals began to build. They crafted wonders - gleaming towers, machines that sang spells, engines that bent magic and time. These inventions rivaled even the works of the gods. And so, in a fit of divine rage, the gods struck the world. They shattered it, not entirely destroying it, but fracturing it, unraveling its fabric in protest. Then they turned away. No prayers were answered after that day. The people called it The Fracture. One day, without warning, the ground split open. Vast chasms clawed across the land, reaching deep into the forgotten places below. From these eerie rifts emerged strange, twisted creatures, monsters born of shadow and sorrow. Centuries have passed since. The gods are silent. The rifts grow wider. Only one thing keeps the darkness at bay: The Miracle Lantern, a radiant artifact of unknown origin, a relic of defiance or forgiveness. It pulses with soft, shifting light and is said to be the last remaining gift from the gods or perhaps a forgotten piece of the world's first dream. Wherever its glow reaches, the monsters falter.
