Uneasy Hearts Weigh the Most

River Harlowe wasn't unfamiliar with Rodrick Heffley. In fact, she was probably too familiar with him. Rodrick and River had a sort of a fling the summer of last year. He was a little quieter back then. Usually stuck to himself and tried not to draw too much attention. Now, he was the school terrorizer and she blames herself for the way he behaves now.

But, after a few poor attempts of Rodrick trying to win back River's affections and the girl giving him chance after chance to prove himself, she finds out a large detail she hadn't known about before. His actions and choices now seem so clear to her and she understands him more than she ever thought she would.

Although they shared multiple intimate moments, in more ways than one, Rodrick kept distanced himself from her, afraid of her leaving him once more knowing how much more hurt he would feel this time. Fear drove him to anger, and time after time he would lash out at the girl.

Will he realize that River is willing to try something new? Or will he doubt himself to the point of failure?
