Eric Karlstrupp has just turned 16 , he is the son of a spring worshipping Vernallian and a winter loving Frigadarian. His creation is considered a sin and a crime, if his world finds out , he will surely die. On his way to school he unwittingly saves his schoolmate Katania Willowisp from an assault. The two then take on a journey across the world, fighting for their lives and the chance to earn a legitimate place in the world.

"Shift." His voice hit me like a serrated blade as he stepped out of the crude semicircle of hardened wolves that had formed around me. I pushed myself off of the cold floor for what felt like the thousandth time that day, wiping the small trail of blood coming off of my lip and down my chin. "I won't ask you again."
