"Last night, I had a dream the world ended. Half the population disappeared, and unfathomable eldritch beasts shambled out of an unending darkness." In a world with no sun and bloodthirsty creatures roaming the all consuming dark, the only places still safe are the small compounds that managed to get walls up before all came crashing down. Now, life is simple. Stay inside the walls, and you'll stay alive. It's not relatively easy anymore, though. With no one for company but each other, danger lurking only a few yards away from their homes, and half of their loved ones swept away in a mysterious event known only as 'The Vanishing', the morale of the populous is at an all time low. It's only getting worse for some, as their cities that are supposed to be providing for them are failing to do so. Survivors Wesly and Valentine aren't content with this, however, especially since Val's mother desperately needs life-saving medicine that the city just won't send. With no other options, the two journey outside the wall to study the monsters beyond, selling the information they find to the city in exchange for their support. While dangerous, they manage the task fine until one journey out they stumble across a disturbing, gruesome revelation that reveals not only more about the city, but the end of the world as a whole. As the duo begin to pull on the thread and tangle themselves slowly into its snare, they begin to realize there's a lot more to this apocalypse than they ever could have imagined, and that the horrific beasts they've been studying might be the least of their concerns...Complete

How the world works
How does the world work? Well, some people are strong, powerful, smart, or manipulative. Some are even all 4! People who can be on top stay on top and they use their gifts to get them there. But some people aren't strong. Some people are weak. Some people are naive or are less than smart. And some, well some are all 4. These people are at the mercy of the world and rarely, if ever, get even a chance to climb to the top. And that is simply how the world works. Now, if enough people band together, they can overthrow those who have the monopoly on power. This happened in the final disc war. But what if it hadn't? Dream had the teens cornered but in this world, no reinforcements arrived. So dream won. And that is simply how the world works. Ok. It's dsmp. Anything already in it may or may not appear in this fic. And if it does, it will be dramatized. This includes self harm, suicide, attempted suicide, drugs, murder, abuse in all forms, gaslighting, starvation, beatings, gore, imprisonment, torture, depression, dark thoughts, dark subjects, non bbh approved language, spoilers for the (early) dsmp, and more. I'm not putting tw in the actual chapters themselves because A) I will definitely forget one at some point and B) it's a huge spoiler to do so. But these themes are throughout the story. You have been warned. Not saying anything about the content creators, just the characters. Not suggesting that irl dream should go traumatize children or anything. (imma do this story because this ship is underrated) though, had you ever wanted to protect someone? love them? do anything to prevent death? that's how he felt. since child, he has lost his family. all of it. years later, he's forced to join a group called "the toppats" bummer. but he met someone he could finally trust. Sven Svenssson but he was worried. a lot. he didn't know if he could fully trust him yet. whenever Burt was worried around Sven or sad, at night a strange dream shows up. it scares him. it leads him to tears. though, Sven 'understands.' it's true, though Burt doesn't believe it. it's the same thing. when Sven sees Burt stressed, worried, sad, heck even dead inside, at night he's inside that dream. both have to see there fate all over again. then it became clear: they are worried about there fate.Complete

They used my vulnerability against me. They used that weapon, to make me accept their stupid idea. And I of course, accepted it, I didn't even know what they were going to do. They tugged and poked and even shoved their disgusting finger in your wound, just to see you cry. To see you change. No pitty in their eyes. They just continue. They drag you around with metal chains, hit you and turn you into a experiment. But I had enough of the tugging, the clawing, the moaning, the crying and pleading for them to stop, but simply feeding them with our pain. They turned me into something, that neither do they know what I am. Their afraid of me, of my reflexes, my strength. I killed a lot of them. They say I have a cold heart, that I don't feel nothing. Hight 6'2. Tanned and toned body. Death's best friend in the hell hole they're in, he's as cold as she is. But shows a bit of sympathy. Well... More than her at least. He's been there for her, ever since she entered this place of crap. They're the two most feared. As some people say, they're a perfect couple. Killing. Fighting. Cold hearted creatures. No one really knew how X's came to be. One day there weren't any, the next day half the population was wiped out. All Karma knew was that they are technological monsters, fit to be the world's biggest weapon, after the splitting particle ray which could reduce any person into air particles in a millisecond. Karma realised how simple it would be to destroy an army even with one X. They were practically indestructible, perfect killing machines, only they'd turned on the government, apparently. Or maybe those bastards had escaped perfectly unharmed, watching how the country was being destroyed. Maybe it was an excuse for overpopulation. xx-xx Karma has been trying to survive for over a year, but it's difficult when X's, mechanical killing machines, roam the streets, hungry for human flesh. Every day that passes by without finding a portal brings the morale lower. They need to escape the country before they all end up dead. It doesn't help that the X's have changed their tactics and are now manipulating people to commit suicide. The death rate keeps increasing, and Karma has to find out what family means, and to what extremes she would go to save the ones she loves.Complete

"Who's out there?" One of the men yelled. Of course only silence met them. I remained quiet and waited for the group to start moving again. "Maybe it was just an animal." Someone whispered. The person, who I assumed was the captain of the small squad, signaled for them to walk again. They clearly showed fear as they kept going; brandishing their weapons to guard themselves with. "Two are holding lanterns. I'll tell you when you're too close to them." I heard my friend whisper in my ear. I followed the men as I picked up another branch and waited for the right time to break it. They continued to walk through the forest, turning their heads in every direction as if an animal might lunge at them and rip their throats out. I guess in a way I was going to do that. "Go back a few feet." My friend whispered. I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited. "Where is she?" I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question. They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest. Since then, she's been hunted; everyday is a fight for her life, every breath she takes could be her last, but she's determined to stay alive. Her life isn't the kind anyone would want to live but she's managed to survive this long so, what's a few more years?Complete

Unfortunately for them, they seemed to have incurred the wrath of actual gods, nightmares, and monsters. And so, they have been forced to flee their 'heaven' for greener pastures, but before then, they'll have to pass through hell. Monsters, demons, nightmares and gods are only supposed to exist in the world of imagination, and that's exactly where they came from.
