A Monster, They Said
They called him a monster. And maybe he was. When Briar Williams is taken prisoner by a dark wizard camp deep within the Forbidden Forest, she expects to die at the hands of the one who leads it. But it turns out to be Sebastian Sallow, the boy she once betrayed years ago. Instead, she finds herself caged, watched, and curiously spared. Sebastian is no longer the reckless Slytherin she remembers; he's cruel, calculating, and... oddly collapses at random? But beneath his coldness flickers the same sharp intellect and haunted soul that once fascinated her. As Briar unravels the secrets of how Sebastian never made it to Azkaban, his seemingly random failing health, and the camp's twisted purpose, she begins to question everything she knows about monsters-and the man she's come to fear and pity. Meanwhile, Ominis Gaunt-the Officer of Hogsmeade and Briar's long-time lover who desperately wants to marry her-has been convinced by Poppy to save her. His Keeper's Penance | Sebastian Sallow
Anne Sallow is dead, and Sebastian Sallow is a ghost, haunted by a rage he can't control. The only person he hates more than himself is Elise Emberlain-the one who was there, the one who preached caution while his sister died. Now, back at Hogwarts for their final year, Sebastian is a pariah, a monster stalking the halls. And he has a new, singular focus: making Elise's life a living hell. Their shared classes are a battleground, a simmering cauldron of unspoken grief and volatile, dangerous magic. But the line between hatred and obsession is razor-thin, and the volatile energy that crackles between them in a dark forest confrontation feels too much like a different kind of fire. When Sebastian's rage finally consumes him, he shatters, leaving a broken, hollow, penitent shell in his place. In a single act of desperate, foolish pity, Elise pulls him from the dark. But she doesn't save him. She tethers him. Now, she is no longer his enemy. She is his keeper. And his quiet, desperate, all-consuming devotion might be more terrifying than his hatred ever was.
