Kaelari Taan was forged by the Jedi Order-raised in silence, trained for war, and knighted under the firm hand of Master Plo Koon. Her control was legend. Her battlefield decisions, cold and precise. And she never wanted a Padawan.

Now, as the Clone Wars rage across the galaxy, Kaelari is forced to lead troops deep behind enemy lines while juggling an apprentice who isn't hers-Ahsoka Tano, the snarky, bold Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, assigned temporarily to her command. Kaelari wants nothing more than to complete the mission and return to the front. But when a trap leaves her injured, her Venator destroyed, and her battalion scattered, Kaelari must face a harsh truth: she cannot do everything alone.

Haunted by the voices of those she's lost, betrayed by the orders that left her stranded, Kaelari begins to question the systems she's always followed-and her own reflection staring back at her in the mirror.
