Kufr means "denial."
The Kalima is the word by which you accept Allah and His Messenger from your heart and bring faith in them.
This story is for those who think that Allah's trials are a form of rejection. When they don't receive something they desire, they become upset with Allah. They don't realize that perhaps there is wisdom in it, that maybe what they wanted could have been harmful for them. Even when they cry, beg, and shed tears, if Allah withholds something, there must be a reason.

This story is for those who feel as if Allah has abandoned them midway, for those who believe that when Allah takes away someone or something they love, it must be because He is punishing them or doesn't love them.
But the truth is it is never like that!
Allah only tests us as much as we can bear.
