In the middle of the vast badlands, a gigantic train rolling on the rail-less dirt called a Titanrail is under attack in the midst of delivering a dangerous package.

Pierce Bronzday, a young cargoboy of the rail, is having thoughts of whether to help or hide from danger. But, he wouldn't have gotten here if it weren't for him fighting and betting against his fate in the first place.

In a world teetering between the ordinary and the strange, a white-haired girl sits alone, her expression unreadable. The sensei watches her, sensing the weight of her sadness. When he intent on helping, she coldly refuses with four words "You wouldn't understand!" But how could he understand? She guards her secrets like armor, her words laced with an ache too deep to explain. Yet, the sensei feels a strange familiarity in her pain-like looking into a mirror he doesn't remember shattering. For he, too, is a person without roots-a person in this unknown world, waking with no memories of who he was or why he's here other than helping his students.
