"I can see you're stagnant, unsure of where to go and what to do. We could give you a purpose."

"Who is 'we?'" Nyx asked, and Xanthe gave a hum, tying off the end of the braid.

"The Watchers. You can probably gather what we do based on the name. You would be one of us. After training, of course, you would be given a single player world or a server to Watch over. You would only Watch, maybe create some puzzles for the players."

"If you were only meant to Watch, then why are you here? Talking to me now?"

"I saw potential in you."

Nyx never had any answer to the offer. It's not like they could really end up giving one, though. A week later they woke up in a desert, three hearts in red, yellow, and green on their right wrist.

Nyx's peaceful life within their solo world is turned on their head when they're sent to a death game with a group of strangers. At least not much can reach them on this desert mountain.
