In the northernmost reaches of the kingdom of Ravaria, where snow never melts and nobles rarely smile, lives the fearsome and famously cold-hearted Duke Alaric Vortemus, a war-heardened, emotionally constipated mountain of a man who would rather wrestle a troll than share a bed with his wife.
