Mature
Terminal velocity has nothing on Aretha Sawyer. She's jumped off fifty story buildings and fallen from ten thousand feet, completely unscathed. Maybe she's been making falling in the wrong hands a habit, but nonetheless she has always been the best at manipulating gravity to her will. However, she may be the master of the free fall, but that doesn't mean she isn't susceptible to greater heights where the existing forces do not exist for her to control. Especially when her greatest enemy is someone who's actually good in taking the four winds under her wing, and defying all the fundamental forces. Although does her conscience count as another one of her most deadly weaknesses? She doesn't know how long she could possibly stay on the grey area, when this world is brimmed with black and white.

For over a hundred years, humanity has lived in fear of the monsters that roam the streets, lurking in the drains below. Women and their daughters hide, protected in their homes, while men take their sons through the world, teaching them the responsibilities of having a family to feed and dangers to avoid. No one leaves the home unless it's essential, and most of the world prefers it that way. Until one girl spends her days perched on her window seat, looking down at the world below and dreaming of a different life. Her eyes are always drawn to the dark, ominous drains in the street, the ones that often blink open to swallow and person whole. One day, that person is her little brother, snatched right in front of her from their arms of their father and gone forever. When a person is snatched, they never return, and life goes on without them. But she can't accept that. Breaking all the rules, all the things she's ever known, she braves the world outside her little townhouse and goes on a mission into the darkness to find her brother. Only, it's soon her that becomes the one lost to the drains. To survive she must rediscover her world, and in the process, rediscover herself. She will be reunited with old friends, gain new ones, find out deeper secrets about her past than she ever could have imagined, and learn that the world is even more corrupt than she always thought. *** This story contains sexist ideology, mention of cheating, some gruesome scenes, and a whole lot of monsters and darkness. It isn't overly mature... there isn't much explicit language or sexual scenes, but there is a bit of violence, so just keep that in mind... and despite all that negativity, ENJOY!
