In a world where Severus Snape didn't die and was vindicated of his involvement with Voldemort, the Ministry of Magic has enacted a new yet also archaic law for the whole of the wizarding world. Arranged marriage died out decades ago, but the Magical Procreation Act was forcibly put into effect. If you cannot find yourself a partner the Ministry will find one for you, there's no avoiding it.
