What would happen if the entire world stopped sleeping one day?

Overnight, humanity mysteriously loses the need-and ability-to sleep. Initially, it's heralded as a biological evolution, freeing humans from exhaustion and doubling productivity. Soon, however, they discover sleep was never merely rest-it was protection.

Without sleep, people begin to perceive a terrifying hidden layer of reality. Creatures known as "Blinkers" exist in the gaps between conscious moments, beings that once thrived unnoticed during sleep. Now, fully awake and perpetually conscious, humanity becomes vulnerable prey, hunted relentlessly in plain sight.

The hallucinations people experience after not sleeping for several days. The poor souls who lose their lives in their sleep. That feeling you're being watched at night. What if those feelings aren't innocent? What if, the impossible, is entirely possible?

There's a peculiar illness going around many countries, believed to originate somewhere in Germany. It's a virus that has been worrying many people all over the world. Symptoms are as follows: Vomiting. Sleep Deprivation. Intense Paranoia. And extreme hallucinations. There are various reports of people mysteriously disappearing only a few weeks after infection. And many people affected by this disease report seeing a tall, pale-skinned man donning a black suit and tie. Hundreds, thousands of people seeing the exact same entity wherever they go. It's always watching. With no eyes. And they call him "Thę̥͓ͅ Sle̛̞̤͕͔͕̦n̬͍͎͖͍͟d̷̙̹̣er M̶̲̯̬̞͕̫a̘̹̝̯ṋ̫̭."
