The gifted were imprisoned or worse. The ruling monarch, Daren Vaelthorne, created the Guild System to monitor magical activity, and introduced Mystech as a "safe" alternative. His son, General Aldric Vaelthorne, now rules with an iron grip.

Led by the Guildmaster Elias Stormveil, a new generation of warriors, hackers, and mages-in-hiding fight to protect their city from rogue Datawraiths and to rediscover the fading truth of real magic.
