After the sudden death of her aunt and uncle, Amara Howard and her cousin Jackie are uprooted from New York City and sent to live in the small Colorado town of Silver Creek with their late relatives' close friends-the Walters. With seven loud, chaotic boys under one roof, the transition is anything but easy.

Outspoken and sharp-tongued, Amara is no stranger to grief. Having lost her own parents in a plane crash years earlier, she's used to guarding her heart and pushing people away. Between the overwhelming noise of a full house, small-town gossip, and the tension of starting over, Amara barely keeps it together-especially when it comes to Isaac Garcia, one of the older boys in the house who seems to thrive on getting under her skin.

What begins as biting sarcasm and constant arguments between Amara and Isaac slowly turns into something deeper neither of them can explain. As Amara navigates friendships, a new school, and old wounds that refuse to heal, she starts to realize that maybe, just maybe, letting people in doesn't mean losing herself.
