It's the summer of 2024 in Ballymorney, a small town in Kerry, Ireland. 16 year old Aubree Owens has just finished her transition year in Knocktorny Secondary school. Summer is starting, and she lives for it. Late nights, beach days, no school and tan lines. Summer is the only reason Aubree gets through the school year.
17 year old Fionn Fitzgerald has had his eyes on Aubree for years. Watching from afar and never daring to make a move. His whole life revolved around the track, where he'd spend most his evenings running around trying to beat his fastest 100m PB. He never had time for girls or relationships when the 2028 Olympics was all he had his eyes on, so his crush on Aubree was hidden away in the back of his mind so she didn't interrupt his goal.
But this summer? Fionn decided he'd spent too long wasting away his teenage years on a track. He was gonna live it. He was gonna go out and get drunk, stay up until 2am with his friends, kiss a few girls and break his parents rules.
But when Fionns life takes a unexpected slip he doesn't know if he has the energy for this summer.
