However, one night Charles' adventurous treasure-seeking father disappears without a trace. But as months pass, Charles receives a mysterious letter and ticket. Which reads twelve simple words scribbled across: "Come to the Vampire infested city of Veldom, and seek its treasures." Using only his wits, Charles must travel to the steampunk Victorian city of Veldom, which has been plagued with a strange fog that transforms those who dwell within it into vampires. A short story prompt for a writing club I'm in I had a month to write it and a 12.5k word limit! It deserves to be longer so I probably should have done something that works well with the limit, but I had a really fun time writing out a concept start for this larger story I'm working on :) Again, this is a concept story! it has it's flaws, I look forward to rewriting it sometime in the future :) The story will explain things somewhat as you read through, but if you would like, here is a setting synopsis: At the end of the 21st century humanity fell to a incurable blight, the Blood Curse, and civilization as it was known collapsed with it. It was only through the biological properties of vampires, whom have existed as long as humans, that humanity could safely stave off the curse. One thousand years later, humanity and vampires have grown together through this mutual need, human's needing their curses to be sated, Vampires needing human blood for sustenance. A once tumultuous relationship of predator and prey now was one of equal standing and reverence. Not all human's have taken kindly to this new order of things however, and societies do exist that reject vampires and dangerously brave the curse on their own. In recent years these human's have become more brave and more daring, and in an ambush on Wyatt's village, Karva the town vampire has been injured and cannot satiate the curse for a time, right when a young child, Kuuno, is in dire need of it. Wyatt, a fledgling vampire yet to conquer their thirst for blood, Yeshen a doctor's apprentice, and Kuuno, the young child, venture out into the woods set for the nearest village and it's vampire to save the young boy. In this thick forest and uncertain times, what will they discover, and will they make it to their destination safely?

He takes his chance and grabs her, but much to his dismay looks can be deceiving. As it turns out this man is actually a vampire and the girl he thought was the perfect victim was actually anemic. Sadly for him he just found out the hard way that anemic blood doesn't taste very good. Shortly after attempting to drink the young girls blood he starts to fret over her health wanting to control her diet and wanting to put her on medicine to get the iron levels in her blood system up. Sadly for him she will have none of it. She can take care of herself she doesn't some random man who just tried to eat her to do that for her. None the less he won't take no as an answer.

Now that Amy Melga, a girl who fell into the Underworld, holds the power to destroy the Human World and the Underworld into the Human World. She wants to help him but soon she becomes the target of a Fallen Angel, Nellaf, who has the soul of a Demon but the body of an Angel, and to make the Underworld come to the Human World he must kill Amy's Soul. A dark, romantic twist in every chapter and supernatural love brings the reader into the Underworld.
