Touya is homeless.
Has been for a while, actually.
His main priorities are surviving, even if that means taking on jobs he doesn't particularly enjoy. Especially if it means keeping his skin attached to his body and some modicum of food in his stomach.
But that changes when, on a bad pain day, he's approached for some low-level debt job, and he's sent to a home with an unconscious woman and a hungry child.

A reimagined version of my story: A Lost Creation, because I really said: Damn, what if I did this again, but worse and sadder?
(I feel like Touya's backstory should have been expanded on more, and that he deserved a young daughter for a little longer.)

Born from the Flames
So I'm probably not going to get the answer I want from the Manga and this whole thing is a creation of my own on the 'lost years' of Touya Todoroki. This is him living on the streets before he becomes Dabi/BlueFlame, UP UNTIL THE LAST FEW CHAPTERS OF THE MANGA. And his life he creates for himself before he faces off with is father. -Slight spoilers but I kinda just breeze past them so unless you KNOW then you know- I personally think he's a redeemable character (AKA I'm simping so hard that I am justifying mass murder) and I really feel like we aren't going to dive into that whole messy business. Father Figure Dabi! & Child Reader! Originally on Ao3. Dabi stumbles across Y/N climbing her way into a dumpster, starving after not eating for days, and living on the streets with no sign of parents to keep an eye on her. He takes her under his wing, refusing to let a child suffer through homelessness on their own. Not like he had. They work through life together, learning about each other, themselves and building their relationship more and more along the way. After all, it was his chance to offer a less-fortunate child happiness and safety he never received growing up.
