In a world where people's only chance of surviving past thirty is finding your soulmate, Kami Soyeoun is willing to die. She intends for her soulcore, a shiny glasslike orb lying dormant in her chest, to stay that way forever. Idol exposés show her as boisterous, and cold, and far from the vision of an idol that somebody would expect. And yet, she somehow finds herself wrapped up in a k-pop contract that forbids dating- with her debut date right around the corner. After unexpectedly falling in love during her first performance, the stakes grow from fame or debt into life or death. While already dealing with crippling issues the industry refuses to talk about, she is faced with a choice that will determine her world: love or death.
