There was a reason he had disappeared after Anne died.

A reason he'd wanted  *Her* and Ominis to forget him and move on. 

Its frantic message beats against his ribs and reminds him that where he goes Death follows and he cannot linger here.

Until circumstances throw *her* back into his orbit and he sees the child.

The little girl with his his curls and his eyes. 

And everything he's convinced himself of for nearly five years is suddenly thrown into question.
