For six years, Brooke and Cade Belmount forged a love story as resilient as it was passionate. She was his unwavering anchor, the steady presence that allowed professional baseball player Cade to not only manage a debilitating bladder condition but also to quiet the persistent echoes of a traumatic, abandoned childhood. With Brooke's constant support, his career with the Colorado Rockies became legendary: three phenomenal seasons capped by a World Series championship. They had built a life, a future, a home. Then came the call that shattered it all. The trade. Boston. The Red Sox. Cade was more than gutted. His bladder condition, a demon long kept at bay, roared back with a vengeance, threatening to derail everything. As his carefully constructed world began to crumble, Brooke found herself navigating not just a move to her old college town, but an unfamiliar landscape where her own professional support within the organization was suddenly absent, without an offer to transfer to the Red Sox Medical Team. Their foundation is tested, their love pushed to its limits, as they face this new, tumultuous chapter, another brutal curveball threatening to shatter the life they've so carefully built.

"Cas, it's not going to break." Dean, just to prove it, stomps once, twice, three times against the ice. He even slams both feet down against it just for good measure, laughing when his foot slips and he crashes to the ice. "Dean!" Cas yelps, tears welling in his eyes and hands reaching for Dean. "Cas, I'm fine," Dean assures, moving to stand, eyes locked on Cas. Then the ice breaks, and Dean falls through. The last thing he sees is Cas' horrified face, helpless to stop him from falling before the cold hits him, stabbing the air from his lungs with fingers like knives and stealing every thought in his brain. He was pulled from the water that day, but later, he would remember the exhilaration of the ride and the joy of the laughter and the fear of the fall and the cold of the water, and he would think that that's what loving Cas has always felt like. A constant back and forth of laughter and cold, of warmth and sickness, of love and hate. Loving Cas has never been easy, but falling for him has always been the easiest thing in the world.
