I didn't come here to make friends.
But still-
it hit harder than I thought when he said it.
"We're not friends."
Just like that.
Like I was the problem
for thinking the silence between us meant anything more than... silence.
He barely looked at me when he said it.
Didn't flinch. Didn't soften.
And I wish I could say I didn't care.
I wish I could say I rolled my eyes and walked away.
