She will not run. She won't leave him. No, she is not free, but the shadowed canopy of the forest instead holds a sense of familiarity. His jaws no longer exude a sense of fear. They're gentle and without harm. The taste of blood from his mouth is no longer bitter on her tongue. It produces a sense of homely nostalgia. The memory of the soft meadow beneath her has faded into the backdrop. He blew her sense of the old home away with a new tenderness that intoxicates her.

He's left stumped by this turn of events. There's no prison, jaws, or chains keeping her in the forest, but she stays. She's staying with him in either submission or compassion. Maybe she pities him, but why? Is survival still the end goal? Her sense of fear has contorted and molded into something far unrecognizable, no longer able to be restored. She has found serenity and peace within his jaws. Now, the fawn dances through the darkness, and she relishes it.
