Christian Eden, or as his friends call him "Inferno" has been living in the city of Detroit his whole life. Sure, he has plenty of friends, but, between the upper class kids, assholes and Jesus-worshippers, Christian's had about as much as he can take. Until he meets Gloria, a girl who he never thought would interest him moves in accross the street. Christian's life gets completely turned around, and through much struggle, Christian's finally able to see the light.

But when the enemy, the Foreshadowed somehow get their hands on her, her family secrets crawl out and reveal a power she has no idea existed. The man tells her his name finally but he also reveals a dark horrible secret from his past which traumatized him for years, then she feels like she's actually falling in love with him. He knows everything about her, the reason she became human, the two powers she could have, the truth of how her father died. He begins to protect her life with his own.
