Prologue
I sold my world to fit inside someone else's at 20. Now that I'm 23, I still haven't found my way back. Somewhere along the way, my entire world was traded for a love that couldn't hold me - or maybe I couldn't hold it.
This book is the joy I found in heartbreak, though it may not always sound joyful. Sometimes, you have to let the emotions out before you can finally let go.
These pages are me - letting go.
Letting go of her, and every woman who touched my heart, broke it, or saw it in ways I couldn't. Every poem is a moment I lived through, a wound I wrote through.
I'll always love you all - even if it hurt.

It's me, The struggles, the lessons, the laughter, the embarrassing moments, the heartbreaks, the love, the shady comebacks, the nights I thought I wouldn't make it, and the mornings I woke up ready to fight again. I named this book Resilience because that's exactly what my life has been about. No matter how many times I was knocked down by people I loved, by family pressure, by toxic love, by my own mistakes, I got back up. Bruised, maybe. Bitter, sometimes. But never broken. So if you're holding this book, know this is, you're not reading some perfect fairytale. You're stepping into my world. I used to think there'd be no living without you. Then, you walked away. Like it was the easiest thing in the world. We finally stopped making sense to you. So, you left. Why wouldn't you. It didn't matter that it still made sense to me. That I still held on to all those what ifs and unanswered questions of us. Still hoped for things to work out somehow. Still needed things to work out. Needed it like food and water. This story might not make much sense to you, reader. It was written for him. And in many ways for myself.
