this book is about a woman who spends her whole life in a mental hospital, ever since she was 14. she was a normal girl, her parents hated her, they turned her in and said she was a danger to people and even herself. but really, she wasn't, or so she thought. she had a son; she acted normal and stable. she gets released to raise her son. by the time he's 18 his mother becomes very ill. he visits his mother for the last time, her last words to him were "I'm not as crazy as people say I am, Tristain, you shall follow my steps, and come find me, I love you be safe." the next day his mother dies.

When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around.
