Chapter 1 In the quiet village of Edimere, the lonely breeze often sang in harmony with the chirping crickets and the calls of distant birds. There lived a mysterious woman named Adaugo, known throughout the land as a half-caste. Her beauty was striking, but her story was shrouded in sorrow. Every man who dared to love her, or tried to make her his wife, met a tragic and untimely death. Fear gripped the hearts of the villagers - men avoided her, women whispered behind her back, and children ran at the mere sound of her name. She became a symbol of beauty tainted by misfortune. Yet, despite the curse that seemed to follow her, the gods showed her mercy. They blessed Adaugo with a daughter - a radiant child named Ijeoma, whose birth stirred curiosity and awe across Edimere.
