Magic isn't all duels and potions. Sometimes, it's chasing cursed overdue paperwork through collapsing archives while trying not to get murdered by your own filing cabinet.

Elias Reed is fifteen, too young for a wand license, and definitely too sarcastic for his own safety. But thanks to a few connections (and maybe a little blackmail), he lands a highly coveted internship at the Department of Magical Criminal Investigation, more commonly referred to as the 'DMCI'.

Its most obscure, underfunded, and least regarded department in the entire Ministry of Magic.

The DMCI is buried in the basement, ignored by the Auror Office, and staffed by a group of misfits which consists of a grumpy ex Auror who's allergic to emotions.

A conspiracy nut with red string on every wall.

An archivist who may or may not hex anyone who mishandles a file and now Elias, the intern nobody wanted but can't seem to get rid of.

They're supposed to investigate the leftover crimes no one else wants like
stolen brooms, cursed teapots and the whole lot.
But when a trail of mishaps leads to missing memories, vanishing witnesses, and a cover up that reaches far beyond their floor, Elias finds himself caught in the middle of a conspiracy the Ministry would rather keep buried.

And in a place built on secrets, one wrong question could be fatal.
