Every city has its ghosts. Some just know where to bury them better. When bodies start turning up in grotesque, symbolic displays-each one posed like a twisted confession-the city's underbelly begins to twitch. They call him The Ritesman Killer, a name whispered through news reports and stitched into barroom rumors. Nobody knows who he is. But everyone knows what he does: forces his victims to face their own sins before delivering brutal, ritualistic executions. Nolan Mercer has seen more corpses than most men would dare imagine. As a funeral director, death is just another part of the job. But when too many of these victims pass through his doors, Nolan finds himself tethered to the investigation by threads that no longer feel like coincidence. Detective Aaron Mills, a long-time friend, brings him snippets from the case, hoping Nolan's morbid expertise might help piece things together. Meanwhile, the investigation stumbles, frustration boils, and the city wants a monster to blame. But in a place where money buries evidence and justice keeps looking the other way, monsters are never in short supply. As the body count rises and the mirrors crack wider, one truth becomes impossible to ignore: the dead may be silent, but they still demand to be heard.

When Olivia Parker is found dead at a high school party gone wrong, it seems obvious who her killer was. Wesley Owens was found next to her covered in blood. Obviously, he did it. The question was why. With the entire senior class attending the end of the year bash, it shouldn't have been that simple to get away with the crime. There had to be witnesses and alibis, especially in the tight-knit friend group found at the scene. Now, with the eyes of everyone on them, the group has to pick up their broken pieces and figure out what actually happened that night before one of them gets falsely accused. With each step closer to the truth, the friends start to get more and more hesitant to reveal the truth and start to realize no one seems to be innocent. (Featured on Wattpad Picks twice!) (Shortlisted for the 2018 Wattys!) In the process of a rewrite!
