In a frostbitten, surveillance-choked future Scotland, sixteen-year-old Briar has spent over three years imprisoned in the Meta-Human Performance Evaluation Lab-a government facility that classifies and controls people born with unexplainable gifts. She doesn't know why she was taken. She only knows how to survive.
When her long-planned escape finally succeeds, Briar barely makes it into the frozen wilds before she's captured again-this time by the FOFU, the so-called Fight or Flight Union. They claim to be the resistance. They say they're the good guys. But Briar wasn't their mission. She was just in the way.
Held in a new kind of cage, Briar learns to fight, to track, to survive on the outside. But the more she sees of the FOFU's fractured leadership and secret agendas, the more she realizes they're not saviours-they're schemers. And she wants no part of their war.
So, she runs again-this time with a group of outcasts like her. Not heroes. Not soldiers. Just freaks. Together, they search for the Unlisted: the ones who vanished before the system could brand them. What they find instead is a truth Briar was never meant to remember.
