Alinta and her feral hedgehogs were taking a stroll around town, when two figures drop out of the sky and land on Alinta. Two humans who claim that they know who she is, but she does not know them. She has never met them before. After Shadow interrogates the two strangers and compares their DNA with Alinta's, he, Alinta, and their friends realize that the newcomers speak the truth. They are related to Alinta. They are her nephew and niece, and she is their aunt. Not only that, the older brother, Quill, has high-functioning autism, like Alinta. His younger sister, Quilla, may have ADHD, but their parents never set up an appointment with a doctor that will diagnose her.
The siblings are polar opposites. Quill wears black because his favorite color is black, not because he is goth. Even though that he wears glasses, he has a six-pack, but he never shows it off because of his insecurities. Thanks, autism.
Quilla wears pink or clothes with a tad of pink in them because her favorite color is pink. She is both a girly girl and a tomboy. She is always up for an adventure, even if there is a good chance that she will wind up in the crossfire, hoping that her mind will be too focused on the mission to be racing. Thanks, ADHD.
When Quill and Quilla meet Surge and Kit, two cyborgs who went from trying to kill Sonic and Tails to struggling heroes, Quill falls in love with Surge, and Quilla takes an interest in Kit. The more that Surge and Kit hang around the new Emeralds, the more that Kit's curiosity for Quilla grows - and the more that Surge wants to punch Quill's face.
When Surge and Kit are sent on a solo mission, Quilla secretly follows, dragging Quill along - and putting themselves in grave danger.
