You'd think falling in love with two boys would feel reckless. Wild. Like diving off the dock before you're sure how deep the water is.

But it didn't happen like that.
It didn't happen all at once.

It was slow, like sea glass smoothing over with time. One summer at a time. One look, one laugh, one almost-moment after another. I didn't mean to love Jeremiah Fisher, just like I didn't mean to love Conrad Fisher. But I did.

I always thought people only got one great love in their life. One person who made your chest ache in that beautiful, awful kind of way.

But I got two.
