"Sit down," he said, gesturing to the chair across from him.
I didn't move. Instead, I leaned back against a cabinet beside me and crossed my arms.
"I said, sit down, Naomi," he repeated, his voice firm, eyes narrowing. There was something unmistakably commanding in his tone-a thread of warning woven into it.
"Do you always need to be in control?" I shot back.
His lips twitched. "Have you always been this bratty?"
My eyes widened at the word, and I felt heat rush to my cheeks. I glanced down, embarrassed by the blush I knew was spreading across my face.
"Sit down, Naomi. I won't ask again," he said, more quietly this time-but the quiet was worse. There was steel in his voice now, and something else I couldn't quite name.
Still, pride kept me rooted where I was. I didn't reply. I didn't move.
He stood up slowly.
