A Glimpse Into The Leaves

Residents of the sleepy town, Alder Creek, were all alike. They all had clean white houses, they all sent their kids to the same prestigious school, they had the same ideas, same views on politics and same skin color.

Alder creek was a white town. But that changed when a small family of three moved in years ago. People didn't take kindly to them, and discrimination quickly followed them. The eldest child of the family had it the worst, he enrolled into elementary school there, quickly finding how cold people could really be. He was bullied, and treated like something foreign. But there was one boy could really see him for what he was. That boy didn't care what others might've thought if he embraced the other boy.

The boy quickly became aquatinted with the new boy and his family. With that, they created what seemed to be a lifelong friendship.

But as they grew older, and their feelings became stronger, they seemed to fall apart instead of getting closer. They started distancing themselves from one another, terrified of the consequences of accepting how they felt.

They'd spent months like that until, one of them caved, unable to keep his feelings in 'check'. The other boy ended the intense bond quickly, going back to the normalcy of life the other boy saved him from all these years.
