A new Amanto invasion spreads across Japan, and once again, humans are forced to yield to alien power. In a desperate attempt to maintain order, Kondou gathers old allies to restore the Shinsengumi divisions before they are dissolved and transformed into the current SIA (Space Investigation Agency), created to preserve control over Edo, just as in the past.

Gintoki accepts the call-not for honor or glory, but out of a quiet instinct to protect his family.
