She watched the petals wilt in her palm with dejection, another day another failed trial. With her arms crossed across her chest, Quinn recalled her days as the aristocratic sweetheart deep in the center of London and cherished by its residents. With a sigh she tugged her gloves on once more and donned her increasingly familiar mask of indifference. The woman beside her sighed and slid off the bench, stretching in the sun with a sigh and offering a hand to her. She refused the help of Anastasia Langlanais, sweet, seemingly carefree Anastasia. In return the woman narrowed her eyes briefly before sighing. Quinn doubted the revered doctor from overseas would be able to help, evidently Anastasia's sugary demeanor was unfit for a position as high as hers. The cursed woman almost laughed, for how could the daughter of a witch doctor hailing from the heart of New Orleans cure someone of death's touch?

When Emberly turns 16 she's sent off to mrs. Harrison's finishing school for young ladies. Graduating at the age of 18, she sets off for London, where she soon finds herself face-to-face with an old friend. Emberly: "his tall six-foot frame towering over me, his captivating smile could make anyone stop in their tracks, though all it does to me is make my heart stop beating. The way his curly brown hair would fall in his face when he worked. While everyone called me "Emberly" or "miss Williams" he called me "Rose". Sherlock: "when she smiled, small dimples appeared on her face and the whole room lightened up with her, sunlight played with the disobedient strands of her dark hair, her flawless skin glistened in the morning light/candlelight."
