Radioactive

My name is Gracelynn Hayes. I am 17 years old and I am a delinquent. I was locked up for stealing medication and rations that were not my own. I stole for my mother who was dying. She needed food and medicine but the people of the ark wouldn't help her. They said it was too late to help her and that she would die anyway. They told me to just let her fade away.

I wasn't going to let that happen. I stole food and medicine for her and I got caught. I was charged and she was floated.

I am now turning 18 and I am going to be sent to Earth. I will be sent to see if Earth is able to be habituated and if it is, then the rest of the ark will come down. I was told that if I survive Earth, when the others come down I will be pardoned of my crimes.

What they didn't know, was that was livable. But we weren't the only ones here. There were others here and they weren't friendly. They were our enemies and they wouldn't stop until we were wiped out.

Lincoln was not the first one to see the Sky People. But he did watch them. He watched them try to survive and build themselves a safe place. He watched them fight with each other and make their own set of rules. He watched them bury their dead and he watched them celebrate their lives on Earth.

He knew that the Grounders would attack and he knew that the Sky People would get wiped out. He knew that he would have to be apart of the war party that would wipe out the Sky People.

He shouldn't have been watching them, but the one with the golden hair caught his eye and he couldn't take it off her. Maybe if he could just get her away from the other Sky People, maybe if he could get to know her, he may be able to save her.
