Would you walk into Hell... just to prove a man is guilty?

Description:
Detective Elira Vane, young, ambitious, and known for solving impossible cases, is assigned to Case 091-the brutal murder of a teenage girl in a quiet, religious town. The suspect, Jonas Mire, was arrested swiftly after damning evidence pointed to him. A former mortician with a disturbing past, Jonas hasn't spoken a single word since his arrest.

But ever since Jonas was locked in Cell Six of Saint Holt Penitentiary, the prison has turned into a nightmare.

Staff are dying. Not just dying-mutilated, disfigured, and left in ways that seem ritualistic, inhuman, or hellish. No cameras catch the killings. There are no signs of break-ins or escape. Those who survive describe whispers through the walls, cold hands reaching from shadows, and nightmares that continue even after waking.

Everyone who's dared to reopen Case 091 ends up dead-or mad.

In response, the prison is placed under full lockdown. Only a minimal, essential staff remain. No media. No contact with the outside world. Jonas Mire is completely isolated, guarded around the clock. Still, the deaths continue.

Now, Detective Vane is being asked to take on the case-alone.

Before she leaves, her chief pulls her aside, voice low and serious:

"Elira... no one else will take this. They're scared. Hell, I don't blame them. But people are dying-good people-and we can't keep ignoring it. We need someone who can look past the fear and get to the truth. Someone who doesn't run from the dark. That's why I'm coming to you.
You've cracked cases others wouldn't touch. You see what others can't. We trust you.
I'm not asking this as your chief-I'm asking as someone who still believes the victims deserve justice."

Hey there folks, I'm Cody Phillips, welcome to New Orleans. N'awlins is known for many wonderful things, our coffee, music and the ability to throw a damn fine party. We're also known as the city most people believe may be one of the most haunted places in the world. Well, let me tell you this, we have more than our fair share. I know because I can see them. But, listen, don't spread that around. Yeah? It's been a closely guarded family secret my whole life. Not even my best friend knows this about me. See, I use my 'gift' in my work as a homicide detective with NOLA's finest boys in blue. Now, I understand why you might call it cheating, and that's fine. But I always catch the bad guy with the victim telling me everything I need to know and give the family involved closer. So it evens out as far as I can tell. Now just as my life is moving slower than a gator with a full belly, the worst happens. I get the call about a homicide that's hit too close to home. It leaves the girl of my dreams coming home to face tragedy. The moment I see her I find myself reminded of the one secret no one ever knew. Ever since I was eight years old I have felt many different things for Emma O'Neal, and those feelings haven't disappeared with time. Problem is now that she's come home; I find myself fighting not only an unknown assailant out for blood, my partner's misguided beliefs but my own need for the enticing beauty I'm duty sworn to protect. Damn, I just hope I'm able to fight the feelings I have for this woman, and stay focused on the case. Otherwise, I might end up losing something far more precious to me than the honor I've worked so hard for: Emma's life.

OFFICIAL DISCORD SERVER: https://discord.gg/NCn5VHTaj6 The act of archiving is, at its very core, a desperate attempt to grasp control from the unknown. To gather the fragments of insanity and stitch them into something... coherent. Understandable. Safe. The Crowley Foundation was built to be a sanctuary for such endeavors. A place where the broken, the haunted, the physically, emotionally or spiritually scarred could leave their testimonies. Stories passed on from the victim in an attempt of healing, and information passed on to us for cataloguing and preservation. I believed that, once something is written down and locked away, it loses its power. I have since come to realise that that is not the case. Today, I have hired a new Archivist. Her skepticism will serve her well. They always turn up here, eager to confront the dark corners of reality, to study it like a worm under the magnifying glass. This one is different. She wasn't my first choice, but she was the most stubborn. Quietly obsessive, she carries the kind of curiosity that borders on self-destruction. A tendency to pursue anomalies long after sound minds would have let them rest. Qualities that will make her both invaluable and dangerous to the Foundation. She doesn't ask the right questions. She asks better ones, reaching for answers that I intend to keep secret. It's never meant to be easy. I'm not entirely sure I've made the wisest decision, picking her. Though it's a situation that will resolve itself, in time. If she is wise, she will listen and adapt quickly. If she isn't so sharp, she will seek answers where they aren't. And if she is anything like the others... she will be devoured long before I have to step in. [INSPIRED BY THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES https://rustyquill.com/show/the-magnus-archives/] 🐦‍⬛

After the death of her mother, Lilith Anders is left in the care of her cousin. Everyone knows that. What they don't piece together is that, with her arrival, the crime rates have gone down. Suddenly new evidence surfaces, and every one of the disturbing cold cases are put to rest. The most heinous ones everyone fears to touch. No decent human being would be able to follow the macabre details to the killer. And yet, they're found half dead on doorsteps. It all starts with Lilith. After all, it takes a demon to fight one. ~~~ "Who are you?" "I'm the bastard child of a fallen king, and the daughter of a holy queen." Realization flickers in his eyes, swiftly replaced by dread. "You do realize, if your fated one is in my pack, I cannot allow you to be united." "That's a given. I'm only here to pray for the fallen by inacting justice on the demons." "Don't underestimate the bond." "Oh, I won't. I've severed it long ago." #2 in demons Jan 2019 #3 in retrospective May 2019
