Things take a turn when the Equestria Girls enter the world of Barbie in the Princess and the Pauper. Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Sunset find themselves meeting the princess Anneliese, while Pinkie, Rarity, and Fluttershy stumble into the life of the pauper Erika. Both girls seem to be living completely different lives, so it's a shock when Anneliese and Erika meet up, and the only two things that are different about them are their hair and their birthmarks (Anneliese has the royal birthmark; Erika doesn't have any). Suddenly, Anneliese is kidnapped by the minions of the royal advisor, Preminger. Not only that, but Erika rebels from the script and goes along with Rainbow Dash and Sunset to find her.
