
Shayne felt like he had no reason to be sad. His life was fine in his opinion, two parents still together, only child, not a star player but still a good player. Maybe his parents were a little controlling and put some pressure on him, but that was for his benefit and success. Right? Then there's Keith. He know's his life isn't quite average, but so many people have it worse. He could brush his problems under the rug and focus on school and getting by as best as he can until he can move out. They didn't meet in detention. No "new boy" story. No dramatic "fell into his arms" shocking meeting. They weren't next door neighbors. One didn't save the other, but in the end at least they helped each other. Enemies? Strangers? You decide. If the "enemy" hardly knows you exist and it was more of a vague envy and dislike than hate, then yes. Enemies is what they were.
