11 parts Ongoing MatureAlice has a good life: a great job, a cozy, paid-off apartment, and a loving husband.
She also has an oppressive government, a war-torn city, and general social decay around her, and what seems to be an alien invasion, though nobody is willing to admit it.
You know, the kind of things that can really throw a wrench into a morning commute.
She should have left a long time ago, but right or wrong, it's her country. What's the worst that could happen?
No, seriously, what's the worst?
------
It's going to be a sci-fi dystopian tale about choices, priorities, and consequences--for nations and individuals. Also about patriotism and duty, though not how you'd expect them to be portrayed. It should end up novella-sized, but we will see. My first chapter ended up as three chapters, so anything can happen.
Much more tender and serious than my usual fare, but also sadder. It's the first time in my life that I cried while writing. Strange feeling. You'll know when.
Unavoidably political, though I tried to make it sound universal. Still, you can figure out approximately when I had it first outlined.
Also, metal. Literally, the metal soundtrack will play an essential part in the story later on, that's why I added a playlist for the first time. If you don't enjoy horrible old-school noise, don't click on the songs.
Warning! We have finally reached the heavy parts. You can read the first 10 chapters as a clean, dystopian, political story. From 11th chapter on, wheels come off.
PS. Placeholder cover, obviously. Sorry. One day I will get real ones for all my works.
