Long after the events of Helltaker, Azazel decided to pursue science. He did it in an unhealthy way, and then gradually more and more gloomy and enslaved: he ousted Lucifer and subjugated many others. Whoever rebelled was dead, or had not been strong enough to tell it.

Until, one day, an anonymous human descended into Hell - by his choice. A man without a name, without a known face, but with an unshakable will. He decided to take matters into his own hands: he formed a liberation army and declared war on the LoreMaster. They conquered many territories, and a brutal fate was reserved for the survivors of LoreMaster's army: they were crucified, beheaded, and their heads planted on poles, to form a macabre garden. Strange, threatening and disturbing symbols appeared on the walls.

No one knew the name or face of that man. He bore no scars, no peculiar marks... yet he adamantly refused to show himself. One day, he attacked LoreMaster's main base. Victory seemed one step away, the army advanced unstoppably.

But that's when she released her secret weapon: a series of experiments, human-demonic hybrids, born in her dark laboratories.

Many died that day.

The battle was lost. LoreMaster ordered the rebel leader to be taken and thrown into the Abyss.

But he survived.

He went back to where it all began. And there, between ashes and memory, he swore that he would rebuild his army.

And that one day... he'd get revenge.
