It was early morning, she was standing in the rain, the cold wet seeping into her skin and hair. She had closed her eyes, face to the sky. The tapping of raindrops as they pelted the sidewalk were the only sound that breached the silence.
Rowen O’Brian watched the girl from a short distance away. Her dress and hair were drenched from head to toe, but she didn’t seem to care. What could be on her mind?

As she walked away, thoughts flooded my mind. I couldn't leave her unscratched, she couldn't walk away from me, The Queen of Vampires with no bruises or cuts on her. "What do you want?" she asked still facing away from the other. Her eyes were focused on the rippling water in the fountain before her. The other stood quietly for a second. "I want you to know that... even if you're my enemy, I can look past our differences." She kept her eyes on the water and snickered taking the other girl by surprise. "And what if I don't?" she said now making eye contact with the other. Her face was dusted in red from frustration and embarrassment. "Suit yourself then!" she huffed and stormed away. The bus ride to the retirement home had been uneventful-the low hum of chatter, the occasional burst of laughter, and the rhythmic bumps of the road beneath the tires. Star sat by the window, watching the world blur past, her fingers absentmindedly tapping against her knee. Beside her, Alin leaned in with a smirk. "You look tense," he teased, nudging her shoulder. She rolled her eyes. "I'm fine." From the seat in front of them, Stanley snorted. "She's just nervous because she has to talk to actual people today." Star shot her brother a glare. "Not everyone enjoys socializing as much as you do, Stanley." Alin chuckled, draping an arm lazily over the back of the seat. "Come on, Star. It's just one day with a bunch of sweet old folks. What's the worst that could happen?" She sighed, resting her forehead against the glass. If only they knew. The retirement home loomed at the end of the road, a grand but weathered building with ivy creeping up its stone walls. It looked peaceful enough-nurses bustling about, elderly residents chatting on the front porch, the faint scent of flowers drifting in the warm afternoon air. A normal visit. A normal trip. I look into the blue eyes of my best friend and it feels like staring down a stranger. They are familiar and foreign all in the same moment, glossy and pleading. The dimly lit street allows only enough light to cast glimmers on our faces and subtle shadows on the ground. It's raining but I've hardly noticed; all I see is him. "Megan please don't go," he says desperately. "I-I'm sorry." A tear falls steadily down my cheek. I don't want to go but I have to be strong for myself. I run forward and wrap my arms around him in a hug. "I love you Niall," I say near his ear, "I just don't like the person you've become." I hold back a sob, "When my best friend comes back tell him to find me." I don't say another word I just go, leaving him all alone in the dark street...Complete

He once told me no one knows the real him.I didn't think he meant it, and not in a good way. He is a straight A student, and everyone knows it, not to mention he is on the swim team. All that though isn't the real him, the real him hides deep within himself. ---------- "Can you please tell me what that was?" I nearly shout at him. All I get is silence. He keeps his back to me. "Please, I need some explanation." I beg. I stay still as he stops dead in his tracks. His body is tense and it's scarring me. He turns around slowly to face me with his hands at his sides. His eyes meet mine, but there is no spark of any emotion in them. They are cold and dark making me look away not being able to hold his deadly stare. I feel uneasy under his gaze, and i feel his eyes burning a hole in the side of my face. "No, I won't explain because it's not important." He says in a low, almost, growl. I flinch and look back into his eyes. I feel hurt by his words and I don't know why, but I know he sees it in my eyes. His faces flashes with regret but it's quickly covered up with his faces going back to it's hard cold look. I feel my heart stop and my face go pale. His look terrified me making me hold my breath. "Breath." He orders. I start to breathe again and just blink at him. "Now go." He orders me again. I flinch involuntarily at his tone and jump back slightly. "Please don't let me walk home alone." I beg in a quiet voice, looking down at my feet. The next thing I see are his black combat boots right in front of my shoes. I look up into his eyes and he looks down into mine confusion written all over his face. "How come you aren't running yet?" He questions searching my eyes. "I just can't walk home alone, please I'm scared." I hear him chuckle. "You aren't afraid of me? What can possibly be scarier than me?" He asks. "Well, I know you will keep me safe." "Why is that?" He questions raising an eyebrow at me. "You haven't hurt me." "Yet." He mutters, but I roll my eyes.Complete
