Life is strange.
Maybe life is just funny. Thinking of how it all changed so quickly. How the world, once so lively and full of color, suddenly went grey overnight.
It was scary. You'd think zombies came. At least if it were zombies, we'd have more of a chance. People could outrun them, outsmart them-use guns to kill them. Vaccines against viruses could be created.
This was another level.
How do you outsmart a supercomputer? An AI? Nothing you think of hasn't already been calculated across all the possibilities humans could try to stop an AI invasion.
The fact that I knew there was no way to beat this-other than running and hiding for the rest of our lives-meant I was one less person trying to fight.
I could bet I wasn't the only one who couldn't see a way to outsmart a supercomputer.
This was the end-yet still...
Here he was.
Bent over the device.
He didn't want to give up like the rest of us. Maybe that was just the soldier in him. Fight it out until his last breath.
Nevertheless, he was humanity's hope.
He had more faith than I did.
