Azarael: Before The Arrows Fall

A short story of before the Knight of Light ever drew his sword, the Archer of Heaven walked alone.
Azarael, Heaven's golden retriever in form but the Angel of Death in truth, roams a world on the brink of ruin - bringing peace to the faithful and judgment to the wicked. His watch falls upon Kael, a brilliant and ruthless warlord whose rise will end in shadow and corruption.
From the smoke of burned villages to the black altars of forbidden power, Azarael witnesses Kael's transformation into the Dark King - a being who does not bleed as he should, and will not stay dead unless made to. But Heaven's decree is clear: Azarael will not be the one to end him.
Instead, a prophecy takes root - of a white wolf forged in fire and sorrow, armed with Heaven's sword, who will one day rise to strike Kael down.
