Rogan is one of the main characters in my romance-fantasy WIP series Burning Embers (names may still change as the story develops).
In this short standalone, you'll meet him as a child - brought by his uncle Alisteir before the King of Saoirse, the father he has never met. Rogan quickly learns there's no place for him at court. Yet Alisteir has a goal: to secure the king's protection for a boy whose path will be full of trials.
Before you read, here's what you need to know:
In the kingdom of Saoirse live cursed dragons, trapped in human-like bodies. Their curse was placed by a dark, ancient power as punishment for the devastation they once brought upon the kingdom of Eonia, in a blood-stained war.
The blood used for the curse came from a dragon who chose to live among humans - an act considered blasphemy by his own kind. Rogan carries that stained blood in his veins.
