When We Were One

Two brilliant minds, one a neuroscientist and the other a clinical psychiatrist, are assigned to a highly classified research program on "Cognitive Resurgence Therapy" - an experimental technique to awaken coma patients using memory stimuli and neural mapping. The trial subject is a comatose patient who mysteriously survived a near-fatal head injury with no identity, no past, and a bizarre brain scan that shows a functional default mode network (DMN) - suggesting conscious thought despite unresponsiveness.

The project aims to map and eventually "pull" the patient's consciousness back by reconstructing memory pathways using neurostimulation and immersive psychological cues.

As the leads work together, they develop a deep mutual intrigue - professionally, intellectually, and emotionally. But soon, they begin experiencing shared dreams, blackouts, and fragmented memories that don't belong to either of them.
