How Do We Begin to Heal? (Ninjago Lava High School AU)

Before you read: The first couple of chapters are a bit rough. They are by no means a reflection of my writing now. However, I do believe that they aren't bad, so long as you don't mind the pacing.

Anyway:

Kai, Nya and Lloyd have... an interesting home life, to say the least. Their parents, Maya and Ray, are world travelling scientists pushing for the next major breakthrough in oceanic discoveries, and with their legacy overshadowing their children, barely know the kids they had "raised."

Kai, the eldest, was forced to step up for his siblings at a young age during his parent's frequent "business trips," sacrificing most of his early adolescence in an attempt to preserve what little remained of his brother and sister's childhood. With their parents largely out of the picture, the Smith children make friends, build relationships, and begin to thrive without the oppressive weight of Maya and Ray's impossible expectations and crippling absence. Sure, things are imperfect, and some parts of their lives loom over their heads like storm clouds, but what they have is theirs, untouchable and wholly their own.

Until one day it all falls apart.

Three years later, Kai is finishing up high school when his parents decide to show up again- this time for good. As the drama of the healing family's lives build up, someone begins to quake from the pressure.

Will they be able to keep their secret? Will old connections be reforged? Will they finally be a family again, after so many years of distance and bitterness? And most of all, what will happen when the chips come down?

Main ship will be Lava (Cole x Kai). There will be Jaya, and maybe others but don't count of it. This is a Ninjago MOVIE fanfiction (cuz it fits better) focusing on lava and the RGB siblings.
