Or a human AU where AJ (AppleJack) works on her family's farm, and Dash (Rainbow Dash) runs track and field in college. AJ is struggling with love insecurtiy, but has yet to realize it. She is filling the void with various one night stands. Dash is very solitary with her feelings, but secretly yearns to be loved. Dash is busting tail to qualify for the Olympic trials in track and field, and AJ is her biggest supporter. The two are completely oblivious to the other's pining... until they're not.
AJ soon finds herself falling head-over-heels for her best friend, but thinks the feelings are one sided. She's too oblivious to realize Dash's "fake" flirting is actually flirting.
