A pampered prince, a boy of the wilds, and a curse to keep them close.

Prince Soleil has never set foot beyond the towering walls of Sunspire Citadel. With each passing day, his fear grows. Fear that the Goddess has not chosen him to wield the sacred magic needed to protect his people. Then, one fateful night, everything changes. Soleil begins to see them - ancient, malevolent creatures lurking in the shadows, invisible to everyone else.

Zevrith, a young warrior from the untamed tribal lands of the Shifting Wilds, has known only the harsh laws of survival. When the shamans foretell a looming catastrophe - one heralded by "the gleaming prince of Sunspire" - Zevrith takes on a deadly mission: to hunt down and kill the boy before prophecy becomes reality.

A reluctant, and unlikely, alliance begins. Soleil fears that leaving Sunspire means abandoning his duty and his people. Zevrith believes that joining forces with the mage destined to bring ruin is a betrayal beyond forgiveness.

Neither boy is what they seem to be.
